Right now I'm kind of tired and common is tomorrow (good luck!), so here are a few lessons to be learned from this year:
- always use to toilet sometime before you get to Hyde Park. The lines there are massive (15 people long for each cubicle)
- do not eat warm food for breakfast, it screws up your stomach in the cold so bad; cereal is better, or you could just drink juice
- escape the peloton as quickly as possible at the start, they slow you down crazily
- depending on speed, only go to two drink stops (one after Heartbreak Hill)
- tank Heartbreak Hill: it's not actually that hard as it is speed sucking
- be there early (obviously)
- do not trust Hillsbus for anything, they have ridiculously irrational douches there
- from a Blues Brother's perspective: if you see red or green, you're doing it right. If you see yellow or orange, hurry up.
- Umm... don't drink too much? Pretty sure isotonic drinks are partial diuretics
- don't do a K-Wang and eat McDonalds before the race.
- EDIT: don't do a K-Wang and run into a portaloo door.
My ankle hurts badly, I can't run or even walk easily, AFL marking is probably tomorrow.
Goodnight. (NTS: add more / make continuation post)
don't do a kwang and run into a door?
