Post-English Stress Trauma

Part I: English exams - COMPLETE!
Part I.5: Biology - easier than expected (forgot to study Macfarlane)
Part II: State rank ALL the things - in progress

[insert stuff about the grad post here]

I cannot possibly overstate how relieving it is that English is finally over.

Paper 1 was surprisingly okay - wrote possibly my longest and most structurally-sound exam essay ever, and since I stuck the question everywhere, it's either really good or really bad (woo for rewriting a new essay from near-scratch in the exam). Expect 12-13/15. Short answer was also pretty straightforward, although I'm guessing I'll still only get 10-11/15 because my 5-marker is the same length as my 3-markers... Creative was pretty dreadful even with the relatively broad stimulus: didn't incorporate stimulus at all, story is meaningless and doesn't relate to belonging, 8-10/15.

Paper 2 was devastating. My Mod A essay (which I was hoping would keep me afloat) was done pretty badly due to getting thrown off by the question on textual type (10-13/20). Mod C was slightly better than trial, but still makes little reference to the question (10-12/20).

Now, for Mod B:
SDLKFJSDLKFJSLDKFJ[insert tableflip]
*me*: does At Mornington for first Mod B exam at school
Switches At Mornington for Mother Who Gave Me Life because of the trial.
Paper 2: SPECIFIES AT MORNINGTON. QQ

Eh, well, it's all done and over now. I didn't actually get around to completing any of the dot points from the last post.

English Mystery Mark: comeatmebro

(I bet some you read that as come eat me bro, lol)

[Writing on Friday]

Biology was pretty alright, considering I only had confidence in 10% of the syllabus. The questions were surprisingly straightforward, and the number of examples that you ended up having to remember was only about two (meanwhile, in Bio Trials…)

Speaking of Trials: whoever decided to write a question about Macfarlane Burnet is a genius, since we had a 5 mark question about his/her contribution to understanding of disease. This exam had two eight markers. TWO! They were really simple though ('Demonstrate how technology...'). Did anyone look at the Biochemistry option? Average and I more or less said "we could have done this without studying," i.e. we could probably get 20/25 for it, no problem.

Oh crap, it’s Sunday now, 4 unit is in less than 22 hours from now, and I’ve only done about 5 past papers (while having done about 8 for 3 unit, lol).
After finishing English, I was like 'screw this, I'm gonna state rank math,' so now I’m hoping to get 90+/100 raw in extension 2 and 65+/70 for 3 unit. Both are probably not going to happen since I always run out of time and screw up on standard questions

Current weak areas include:
- Questions involving the use of geometric/locus properties of conic sections
- Inequalities, especially ones involving the extended triangle inequality or trigonometry
- Circle geometry: asdf this makes my brain melt whenever I see the solutions for these, I only got lucky in the trial otherwise instant -5 marks
Other areas where I'm getting weaker or not quite up to par is harder mathematical induction (see Ruse 2012 Q14a), and integration (ARRRGGHHH I should be getting full marks for EVERY integration section).

Also, how are people tackling multiple choice? It seems that I always spend too long on the multiple choice (i.e. 2 minutes instead of the 1:30 which I should be doing for the whole test).

At a rate of 1min 30sec per mark, the entire test would take around 2h30m to finish, which leaves a 30 minute buffer for thinking about hard questions, redoing calculations, checking working out (does anyone actually get to do this?), toilet etc

Lol, now there's less than 10 hours until the exam, and after finishing a paper at around 6pm I just thought "screw this, I'm gonna go relax now"

Did two trial papers, still feeling the same weaknesses since I didn't specifically review them.

Still hoping for 90+/100 raw

The sunset today was a brilliant orange-red colour, which deepened as the sun sank below the horizon (which I can't observe directly, since they're houses blocking my view). It must be a sine of the nature of tomorrow's paper / foreshadowing tomorrow's events!

Wow, my descriptive expression has gone from mediocre to worse

2354 hours AEDT, time to go to sleep, must press Publish before my inner-editor shows up to decimate this post. In other news, my first post before midnight for the year (y) +1 good sleeping habits

If you're reading this before 2/4U, go back to sleep/preparing, and good luck for all your math exams!
