Well, it's several days after I sat the math exams, and I might be the first to say that I'll be doing the same stuff in uni, but harder (woo Science/Engineering).
Concerning 4U: that was a complete failure on my part. I did 8-10 past papers/trials, 4/5 of which were done after Biology (good use of stuvac there), and yet in the actual HSC I produced my worst effort of the year (i.e. losing at least 22 marks without checking the answers). The amount of harder 3U in that exam (and accompanying lack of 'easier' topics such as mechanics) was too damn high, which kinda sucks since I already figured out ~95% of the solutions before Terry Lee had even published solutions Q.Q I guess that intensely red sunset the evening before was actually a bad omen.
In summary, my exam mark will be much lower than my internal, since I'm ranked 9th. Thanks for the carry guys (y)
Meanwhile in 3U, the difficulty was surprisingly low, considering that I managed to finish as opposed to all my past paper practice (woo, alliteration) in which I never managed to finish in time. I mean, I was actually able to do the circle geo for maybe the second time (considering I've done ~10 past papers), and not a single binomial question was in sight. The 3d trig question at the end was pretty tricky though, and I guess many wouldn't have got it out in that time. Overall, I've lost at least 3 marks, and will probably end up with 63-65/70 as raw mark, so that's alright.
Wow, I feel bad for [you know his name] since he completely missed the last page :(
[end HSC math discussion, probably for life, see you in uni]
Went to school on Friday just after Ancient (so I herd u liek measuring bricks) and finally caught IcedTrees and gave him the stimulus package (yeah). Also handed in my netbook to the TSO, borrowed some books on speed math, ethics, philosophy and artificial intelligence (because that's totally relevant to my HSC). At lunch I gave back my related material for English to my English teacher, after which I had an only slightly awkward (like this expression) talk about how I went in the 2U English paper. Actually, that talk was alright, and she didn't kill me for being lazy or anything which is cool.
So, I'm typing this stuff on Sunday (28/10), and I'm partway through my 8-9 day break before Physics and Chemistry.
I had a small study session with JM on Wednesday in good 'ol D1 (Watters' class ftw!). I tried to read his notes, but nothing went into my head, which I guess I'll just attribute to math-induced stupidity:
Math-induced stupidity (n.): a clinical condition in which a patient suffers temporary to permanent loss of cognitive function overexposure to high-intensity math.Yeah. In all seriousness, I couldn't absorb anything by reading notes, so only yesterday (Saturday) did I start doing questions out of Success One, which I guess is actually working fine, since I can sort of check what concepts I haven't really learnt (e.g. the whole of Astrophysics).
I had a plan in which I would learn/study/revise a topic (e.g. Chemistry of Art) in one day and move on to the next topic.
Yeah, that went well, just like English(!)
^That is how you indicate sarcasm right, seeing as there's no interrobang on this keyboard
Wow, it's 2:45am, my sleep patterns have just disintegrated after I finished 3U, I'm going to format and post this and write a proper post later. Looks like I forgot to explain following Blogger blogs (will do that next post).
If you managed to get through these boring ramblings, I congratulate (and thank!) you for your perseverance (ah, Baulko motto).
In case I don't post again before Monday (highly likely), good luck to everyone doing modern and extesion English!
lol'd at "stimulus package" and "math-induced stupidity"
ReplyDeleteyou'll probably get higher in maths 4u than you think you will
let's go and do project euler sometime
